The first thing to understand about artist development is role playing.. You as the artist have one main role to play and that is of course the one of the artist. In the days where major record companies used a more creative model artist development was crucial in making sure the record company gets back its investment as a result of a passionate belief that the artist they have signed on will eventually hit. This is NON- existent nowadays and what record companies want nowadays are an artist on a silver platter. No questions asked. They are not ready to risk. They want to be assured that there is a team behind the artist and that the artist has already sold at least 5,000 Records. The artist should be also capable of marketing and attracting all the media necessary towards the music. There is only one way to obtain such a standard and that is through artist development. Most artists are unclear about their direction, sound, image, way forward and knowing how to sell their product. So not only has this become more important than ever the point to be made is that no one is going to do it for you ,which is where our expertise comes in.

Unfortunately not. We can only work with a maximum of 3 artists per year and these would have to be carefully chosen. Age is also a factor. Artists or bands over 25 will not be considered due to the risk. Artists over 25 will be only considered for management, licensing or export if they are already have a level of experience and results.

First we need to establish where you’re at. The fact that you have been chosen for artist development means that we believe in the artist. The artist can be a band or a solo artist or even a song writer. Once we identify your weaknesses we start you up in a program to tackle these issues and make sure that you’re on the right track. We obviously identify your strong points and make you realize how best to work with these tools. The artist development program can consist of vocal coaching, stage presence, song writing techniques and analysis, production ideas, image mood boards, contacts to the right people to set up a good team, an insight in the music business, getting you songs and all imaginable opportunities.

There are 3 artist development programs ranging from Start up to high level developments. Once we evaluate your level we will send you the appropriate artist development program and how much it will cost. Costs vary from 850 EUR – 10,000 EUR for a 1 year term. Normally artist development leads to Jagged House management and al the benefits. However it’s important to point out that artist development is a NON- exclusive contract.

Some aspects of artist development cross over to management. Some artists are ready for management and need minimal artist development along the side. However artists under management don’t pay. We simply take a management commission from all the contracts we conclude. Our Motto is” if you believe in it fight for it” and this works only with having a long-term plan in mind in order to obtain the desired results.

Unfortunately there are no guarantees in the music industry and anyone who tells you otherwise is living in another planet. We can only offer and share all that we know and experienced through the years and whilst not being a guarantee it definitely gives you a better shot in being 100% prepared and maximizing your chances. We always stand behind in what we believe in . We get a lot of calls from artists asking questions about the industry and how to do things the right way .However without a plan it’s useless information. Bands dissolve because there was never someone to sit them down and give them advise about partnership deals and so forth and if artists development gives you a savvy outlook on the industry and teaches you how to apply it the artist development program would be already worth it.

Once you’ve been accepted in this program you will be given a 1 year contract and an indication on when we can start. Normally there are 3 slots starting in the end of January and in the end of June. Each term is for one year. We will also make sure to work out a schedule along your hours.
